Updates in the Pantry Area

One of the main reasons I am looking forward to moving into our new home: STORAGE.

For now, I have this teeny tiny double pantry cabinet, so I store most of our groceries in the basement storage area. But I did put a little effort into making the existing pantry prettier, and today I want to show you a little update that was super inexpensive and very cute.

I picked up these chalkboard labels at Target yesterday in the One Spot. They are made of heavy paper, and I simply hot glued them on to my cereal containers. They do come with ties on them, so if you have containers that you submerge in the sink or put in the dishwasher, you could tie them on and remove them for washing. I wash the lids of these containers in the dishwasher but just use a damp cloth to wipe out the bins themselves, so this will work fine. Eight for one dollar!

The shelf liner came from Target One Spot as well. It cost three dollars a roll and only covered the shelves shown and the matching shelves on the right side with TWO rolls, so I recommend shopping around for a better deal. I chose not to redo it because we will only be in this house for seven more months. SEVEN MONTHS! Oh my heart….I don’t think I can take the wait.

Up above the cabinets, I used a board that was removed during our deck remodel to create a rustic sign. I just printed out the large letters in MS Word (in outline form to save ink), cut them out and traced them on the board. Then I filled in the letters with paint and roughed it up with sandpaper.

The little wooden pig to the left of the sign was a gift from my in-laws. A little farm touch for a lady raised in farm country.

James and I are still haggling over the details of our new kitchen, but I am happy to say I’ve convinced him to go with a brick accent wall in the dining room and he convinced me to go with a huge island and bar combo in the kitchen for tons of cooking and serving space.

Thanks for coming to check out my pantry decor. I have some other projects planned for the upcoming week as the kids go back to school. Come back soon!
