Apple Crisp

Obviously I’ve been doing some fall baking.

One thing that my whole family loves is apple crisp, and it’s especially good in the fall when local apples are in season and readily available.

It’s easy to make and the rewards are high. In fact, I’m pretty sure my apple crisp was a contributing factor to my husband’s marriage proposal.

It’s easy to make. Peel some apples.

Slice them thinly and fill your baking dish 3/4 of the way full with them.

Here’s the recipe for the topping. Swear you won’t tell. I don’t want my husband to propose to you too. (Double the recipe for 13×9 pan)

  • 1/2 c flour
  • 3/4 c brown sugar
  • 3/4 c oats ( I use quick)
  • stick of butter, softened

Mix ingredients until they form large crumbles, then sprinkle over top of apples.

Bake in 350 degree oven for about an hour until top is browned and apples are bubbling. Serve with French Vanilla or Vanilla Bean ice cream.
