Contentment is a Hot Chocolate Bar

DIY Hot Chocolate

I wish I could tell you how long it’s been since I had a cup of hot chocolate with all the fixings. How could a mother of six forget how absolutely delicious hot chocolate is?

The kids don’t forget.

The. Kids. Don’t. Forget.

You could go broke buying hot chocolate in Kcups or packets. Unless you try this recipe, which I found on The Thrifty Couple website. I promise you will love it.

  • IMG_960110 cups of nonfat powdered milk
  • 1 3/4 cups of powdered vanilla coffee creamer
  • 1 3/4 cups cocoa (from the baking aisle)
  • 5 cups of powdered sugar

I dump all the ingredients in my 6 qt Kitchenaid stand mixer and mix it on low with the whisk attachment. Once it’s all mixed up, put 1/3 cup of the mix in the bottom of your mug and fill the rest of the way with hot water. After that, it’s up to you what you throw in there, and I can’t be held accountable for the sugar rush. Or your need for hot chocolate rehab.

I set up a little hot chocolate station for my kids when they got home from school and they loved it.

Now I’m not a big fan of winter, but I do like to find contentment in the moment. This will help you do that, no matter how frigid it is outside. Put your cozy socks on and give it a try!

See you soon!
